Manama: The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is establishing a Cybersecurity Centre that will be launched soon. However, no date was given. “The driving force of the centre is to promote and develop cooperation among the OIC member states in order to prevent, combat and eradicate electronic terrorism in accordance with the principles set forth in the OIC Charter and the Organisation of the Islamic Conference Convention against International Terrorism, with full respect for the sovereignty of member states, the rule of law and the international law, including human rights law,” Wajdi Alqulit, the director of the OIC Information Technology department, said.
The Organization of the Islamic Cooperation – Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT) has started its 9th Annual International Conference on the theme "Uncovering Future Threats" in Baku. The organizer of the conference is the Special State Protection Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, local partners are Delta Telecom LTD and Azinfosec, and foreign partners are May Cyer Technology, THALES and Videntifier companies. The event's academic partner is ADA University. Representatives from 21 OIC member countries and 11 non-member countries are attending the conference.
Some 200 participants from the computer emergency response teams from 34 countries recently gathered in Baku, Azerbaijan to discuss cyber security agendas. The participants, which included representatives from 21 Organisation of Islamic Cooperation - Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT) member countries, attended (6 to 9 November) the ninth edition of this annual event, this time - themed 'Uncovering Future Threats.'

15th June 2017 – Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST), the world’s leading association of security and incident response teams, has marked its 29th annual conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico by signing two Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with GÉANT – Europe’s leading collaboration on e-infrastructure and services for research and education, and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation – Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT) respectively. It is hoped that the formalization of cooperation between the organizations will enable closer integration within the incident response community, and provide further opportunities for collaboration between the groups.
