1. Cyber Security Center Launched

3 March 2013

 

Muscat – The Information Technology Authority (ITA), represented by Oman Computer Emergency Readiness Team (OCERT), launched the Regional Cyber Security Center for the Arab region at the ITA headquarters in Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM) on Sunday.

 

As per the agreement signed in December 2012 between ITA, International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and International Multilateral Partnership Against Cyber Threats (IMPACT) – the cyber-security executing arm of ITU, OCERT was designated to host the regional centre.

2. CyberSecurity Malaysia appointed as Secretariat to OIC-CERT

Malaysia's national cyber security agency CyberSecurity Malaysia has been appointed as the Secretariat to the Organisation of the Islamic Conference-Computer Emergency Response Team [OIC-CERT] during member countries' annual general meeting in Oman recently.

 

With this appointment, CyberSecurity Malaysia is now holding the Chair and also Secretariat position of the OIC-CERT, said General Tan Sri Dato' Seri Panglima Mohd Azumi Mohamed, the chairman of CyberSecurity Malaysia and also the chair of the OIC-CERT.

3. Cybersecurity Malaysia Appointed As Secreteriat Of The OIC-CERT

(KUALA LUMPUR) – CyberSecurity Malaysia, an agency under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) has been appointed as the Secretariat to the Organisation of the Islamic Conference-Computer Emergency Response Team or in short OIC-CERT at the OIC-CERT Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2012 which was recently held in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. With this appointment, CyberSecurity Malaysia is now holding the Chair and also Secretariat position of the OIC-CERT.

 

General Tan Sri Dato Seri Panglima Mohd Azumi Mohamed, the Chairman of CyberSecurity Malaysia and also the Chair of the OIC-CERT, said: "CyberSecurity Malaysia is proud and honoured to be entrusted to lead the cyber security efforts among the OIC member countries. It is a recognition of leadership, professionalism and technical expertise of CyberSecurity Malaysia by the members of the OIC-CERT in the field of cyber security.

4. Cyber Security Against Emerging Threats

(KUALA LUMPUR) – The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation – Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT) 4th Annual Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2012 was recently held in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman from the 29 – 31 December 2012. This event which is hosted by the Oman National Computer Emergency Readiness Team (OCERT), an initiative under the Information Telecommunications Authority of Oman (ITA) and jointly organised by CyberSecurity Malaysia, the national cyber security technical specialist centre under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), has drawn interest from participants of 20 countries. The Minister of Legal Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, HE Dr. Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Said Al Saeedi, officiated the event.
